Our Story
My Consent, Before Content began with a parent's experience.
Our daughter was identified in a promotional video posted publicly online after a junior competition, without our knowledge or consent. When we asked for it to be taken down, we were initially refused, on the basis of a media waiver bundled into the event registration that we had no real choice but to sign. The video came down eventually, but only after weeks of persistence.
The experience raised a question we could not put down: how many other families are in the same position, without the time, knowledge or confidence to push back? And why is there no simple, visible way for a child to say, in the moment, that they would rather not be photographed or shared online?
My Consent, Before Content is our answer. A simple signal, a clear message, and a growing campaign to give children a voice in their image.
What we stand for
We believe every child deserves a say in how their image is captured and shared. We believe this can be achieved without restricting the sport, school and community life that children love, and without making life harder for the photographers and media who cover it. We believe a small, visible signal can shift a culture toward respect, awareness and consent.
Who we are
My Consent, Before Content is led by Nicole and Pete Taylor — a husband-and-wife team from Noosa, Queensland, and the parents whose own experience set the campaign in motion.

Our journey so far
We are early in our journey, and proud of how far the campaign has come. We have a formal letter of support from the Queensland Family and Child Commission, a clear plan, and a growing network of people who believe in this work. We are building carefully, with respect for the organisations already working hard to keep children safe, and with no wish to duplicate or compete with them. We are here to fill a specific gap, and to do it well.
